From a 120 Kg Modak to 1,008 Modaks: Nova Dairy Continues Its Ganesh Chaturthi Tradition in Mumbai
Sterling Agro returned to Siddhivinayak Mandal with 1,008 modaks, following last year’s 120 kg modak offering.
Mumbai, (Maharashtra) [India] October 06, 2026: Last Ganesh Chaturthi, Sterling Agro drew attention at Siddhivinayak Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Dahisar, with a single 120 kg modak. This year, Nova Dairy returned with a very different offering of 1,008 individual modaks presented to Lord Ganesha.
The initiative marked the second consecutive year of Nova Dairy’s association with the mandal.
Last year, the 120 kg modak was opened and offered to Lord Ganesha by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, making it a significant moment during the celebrations.
For 2026, Nova Dairy chose to take the idea in a different direction.
Instead of creating one monumental modak, the brand presented 1,008 individual modaks, retaining the scale of the celebration while bringing the offering closer to the traditional form associated with Ganesh Chaturthi.
“After the response to the 120 kg modak last year, we knew we wanted to return to the mandal with something that felt equally special, but not repetitive. The idea of 1,008 modaks allowed us to create something meaningful while staying rooted in the tradition of making an offering to Bappa,” said a spokesperson from Sterling Agro Industries Ltd.
The choice also connects naturally with Nova Dairy’s presence in Indian kitchens, particularly during festive occasions where dairy products form an integral part of sweets, prasad and traditional preparations.
The Siddhivinayak Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal is managed by the team of Prakash Darekar, Nagar Sevak, and sees strong participation from the local community during Ganeshotsav.
For Sterling Agro, the association is gradually becoming a recurring festive tradition rather than a one-time activity.
In 2025, it was one 120 kg modak. In 2026, it became 1,008 individual offerings.
And in both years, the idea remained rooted in the same thought, participating in one of Mumbai’s most loved festivals through a symbol closely associated with Lord Ganesha.
